The world today is witnessing the emergence of a new phenomenon known as "digital drugs," which rely on sound frequencies to induce psychological effects similar to those of traditional drugs. This phenomenon has sparked widespread debate regarding its legality and its health and social impacts. In Iraq, despite efforts to combat traditional types of drugs, digital drugs still pose a modern challenge that requires an advanced legislative response. This research discusses the importance of criminalizing digital drugs in Iraqi legislation, emphasizing the need to include legal provisions that criminalize their use and promotion, in addition to enhancing regulatory and awareness efforts to limit their spread. The study draws on successful international experiences in this field.
